How To Create A Signature Stamp In Procreate

In today's tutorial I will show how to create stamps in Procreate. You can use this knowledge to create other custom brushes as well. I created snowflake stamps, but feel free to create any shape you desire!

Step One

Create a new square document in Procreate, I used 3,000 x 3,000 pixels at 300 DPI for mine.

Step Two

Under the wrench icon click canvas and then turn on the drawing guide. Under that option select Edit Drawing Guide and choose symmetry (it should like the first picture).

Click on options and choose radial. Make sure that rotational symmetry and drawing assist are turned on! That step is very important if you want to create a perfect snowflake. Click done once you finish.

Step Three

In your colors on the top right pick pure black (you can get it by going to the disc view and double tapping on the bottom of the color wheel). Choose your brush, I used my large monoline brush from my Procreate Lettering pack that you can purchase here or use the free medium brush.

Now start drawing the segments of your snowflake in one of the sections and the same design will automatically repeat all the way around.

Step Four

Once you finish your snowflake and are happy with it, it's time to turn it into a stamp!

Go to your layers and click on your snowflake layer. Choose select from the menu that pops up on the side.

Go to your color palette and select white (just like with black you can double tap on the top to get pure white).

Then go back to your snowflake layer, tap it and choose fill layer from the menu.

Lastly, turn off the background layer.

Step Five

Click on the wrench icon, click share and save as a PNG to your camera roll.

Step Six

In your brush panel create a new section by clicking the + and name it whatever you desire, then click the + on the right to create a brush.

In the brush settings choose shape from the menu and click edit. Import a photo and choose the image you just created, remember that it is white and you probably won't see it but it will the be the last thing you saved.

The following images and settings are what I used on mine, you do NOT have to use the same ones. Experiment and see what you like best. You can try out the brush on the right side of your screen if you are using Procreate 5 like I am, if you have an older version than you can test it in the top panel where the preview is.

Step Seven

Here are the settings I used for my stamps, starting in shape since that is where we left off:

SHAPE – the only thing I had a percentage for was rotation at 37%

STROKE PATHspacing at 75%
TAPERpressure max and turn on tip animation
GRAIN – Make sure the grain is a solid white box, it should be the default but if not get it in the Procreate Library. Grain behavior is at moving, movement is rolling, scale at 25%, zoom should be follow size, depth at max, offset jitter on, blend mode at multiply, grain filer at improved filtering
RENDERING – select intense blending, flow at max, wet edges at 32%
WET MIXdilution at none, charge at 50%, attack at none, pull at 5%
COLOR DYNAMICS – none for all. This is only if you want to have color changing brushes, which is very fun! You can have ombre or even rainbow brushes.
DYNAMICS – none for all
APPLE PENCIL – this section of settings is good for drawing or lettering brushes where you will want pressure sensitivity. For the stamps I choose none for all except at the very bottom I have size compression on.
PROPERTIES – you can choose to have the stamp preview on if you wish, it is preference, I opted to have mine off. Orient to screen on, preview at 30%, smudge at 75%, Brush Behavior: size at max (this is the maximum size your stamp will be), minimum at none (this is the smallest size your brush will be), maximum opacity at max, minimum opacity at none.
ABOUT THIS BRUSH – here you can name your brush, add your signature and that the brush was created by you.

Step Eight

Now just save your brush and test it out. Have fun creating and stamping!

If you don't feel like creating your own stamps or you would just like some free stamps to add to your collection then head on over to the Freebies page to grab my set of 3 snowflake stamp brushes!
